B.E. (Brittney Elizabeth) Boykin, hailing from Alexandria, Virginia, is a compelling composer whose passion for music ignited at the tender age of seven and has since flourished into a remarkable career. A celebrated figure in the world of contemporary composition, Boykin’s collaborations span a wide array of prestigious organizations, including multiple divisions of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), Minnesota Opera, and the Kennedy Center.
Currently engaged with the Minnesota Opera’s New Works Initiative, Boykin is set to compose three new operatic works for their forthcoming seasons. Her remarkable talent was also highlighted last season when the renowned recital duo Sidney Outlaw and Warren Jones performed her acclaimed song cycle, 26 Ways of Looking at a Black Man, at both the Merola Opera Program and the U.S. Embassy in the Republic of Chad.
